There it is– we’ve done 10 weeks of homeschool and it’s time for a break. I’ve learned a few things from this beginning experience…
- Sometimes you just need to pull the cushions off the couch and make a jumping game to motivate small people to learn French vocabulary.
- I really enjoy writing curriculum, but when the writer’s block hits then the kid can totally smell it and will take advantage of the situation.
- If you establish a routine and stick to it then at some point the kiddo is going to take over reminding you. So be intentional about your routine. And if the routine is that they get princess stickers on their worksheets then don’t try to slip in an Elmo sticker when you run out of princess stickers and think you can get away with it.
- It is so so so [so] rewarding to watch your kid learn something that you taught them like how to write their name or memorize sight words or apply character-building lessons on their own.
I’m think I’m hooked.

I want to be in your class!
I am planning to start homeschooling for my youngest son next year…can you guide me how please?
There is nothing quite like being a teacher, and homeschooling is the whipped cream on the sundae!
Thanks for the inspiration. I love your practical list of things you’ve learned.
