Baby Judson’s first name is in honor of one of our all-time heroes of the faith Adoniram Judson—the first church planter from the United States who was sent overseas.
We have both long admired Judson for his perseverance and boldness as he gave his life to bring the gospel to the people of Burma. He suffered through immensely adverse circumstances including the death of two wives, infant children, imprisonment, and chronic illnesses. Yet throughout his suffering he glorified God for His grace in sending His Son Jesus to suffer on our behalf to reconcile us to God.
Judson is quoted in a biography about him,
“If I had not felt certain that every additional trial was ordered by infinite love and mercy, I could not have survived my accumulated sufferings.”
It is our prayer that one day Baby Judson might also admire Adoniram Judson and exhibit the same tenacity of faith in the unchanging permanency of God’s grace in all things.
