On the morning of her first day of gymnastics class Aliza woke me up five minutes before my alarm was set to go off.
“Mommy,” she whispered,”It’s not morning time yet but I wanted to tell you I’m ready to go!”
She had put her leotard on under her clothes. Adorable. I totally did this when I was a little gymnast, too. “But honey, your class doesn’t start until 4pm. Are you going to wear that all day?”
“Of course!” she squealed. “This is a very special day!”
I guess when you’re four-and-a-half then special days start really early so you can absorb all of the specialness.
