Lots of firsts around here to report…

Judson
- Last week my baby slept through the night for the very first time! I can’t say the same for myself, though. :) Next time you see Judson, please congratulate him on becoming a big boy and maybe he’ll be inspired to sleep all night again soon.

- We can see his first tooth breaking through the gums. Now he can finally have fajitas for breakfast like he’s always wanted.

- Judson can now stand by himself for a split second at a time!

- His first birthday is in a week. So far I’ve managed to hijack every piece of chocolate he’s been given by his adoring fans, so this weekend he’s going to get to eat chocolate for the first time.

Me
- My first sari. I borrowed this gorgeous sari from a friend and wore it to a wedding. It took ten minutes for the ladies to put it on me. :) I’m seriously considering investing in a pre-made sari that is already folded and the seams are stitched together. Saris are incredibly comfortable, but I couldn’t help but be nervous that the folds might fall out of the waistband or even off altogether!

- My first broken bone. I know it’s shocking– given that I’m quite an accident-prone person. I had a nail go through my eyeball once, but I’ve haven’t had a broken bone until now. One of my darling girls stepped on my pinky toe and crushed it against the side of the sandals I was wearing. The x-ray showed that it was broken in two places. By God’s grace, when I saw the crazy angle my pinky toe was dangling off of my sandal I shoved it back into the socket and set the bones perfectly. That little maneuver was so excruciating that I had to stifle tears and tell myself to “go to a happy place.” Even childbirth didn’t hurt like that. Pinky turned purple, but is now on the mend thanks to some cotton balls, athletic tape and extra-strength Tylenol.

Aliza
- First gymnastics class. Actually, it’s her first ever formal “class” or organized activity requiring tuition or fees. I think the people at the gym felt badly for her since she had been on the waitlist for months and no spot in her age group ever opened up. So they let her in the 5-year-old class! She loves gymnastics and can’t decide what is the most awesome thing about it– running on long trampolines or drinking out of personalized water bottles.

Norah
- First time to wake up dry! If you’ve ever pottytrained a child you know what a big deal this is. She’s been waking up dry for a week now. Yay Norah! I gave all of her leftover diapers to Judson since they were wearing the same size.

Dave
- First time to be so sick he was completely down for the count. Even after Dave had his multiple arm surgeries he would still wake up from the anesthesia and ask for his computer or his phone so he could get some work done. Last week Dave was sick to his stomach and fighting some kind of virus that just took him out. He’s starting to feel better now, thank God!
