About Us

Welcome to Life in Arabia!

We’re a family of expats living in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

This blog is about our family’s adventures in acclimating to a host of different cultures and experiencing God’s sovereign goodness in totally new ways.

I hope our stories make you belly laugh, provoke you to think, and inspire you to trust in the God who knows exactly how many grains of sand there are in the Arabian Desert.

A little more about us…

Dave is the senior pastor of Redeemer Church of Dubai. Redeemer is a gospel-centered, evangelical international church that is committed to seeing the glory of God spread throughout the world. Every so often I’m able to drag Dave away from sermon prep to write something for Life in Arabia. Everything he writes is either pure gold or Mean Green.

I (Gloria) am a stay-at-home mom to three children 4-yrs-old and under and a writer. Besides chasing cheeky little monkeys, I dabble in homeschool, manage our lives in this home/workspace that we call the Redeemer Villa, doula for ladies in my community, and keep up with this blog. I also help run Domestic Kingdom, a blog about applying the gospel to the mundane.

Recently I’ve undertaken the massive-est writing project I’ve ever dreamed of– a book called Grace in the Mundane: applying the gospel in your home– which is being published by Crossway.

The three cheeky monkeys you see featured on this blog are Aliza (b. 04/07) and Norah (b. 02/09) and Judson (b.01/11).
